KitKnit - International Women's Day
Thank you for attending our KitKnit event!
Just a quick message to say thank you to all who attended our coffee morning and knitting exhibition on March 5th - an early International Women’s Day celebration, and an appreciation of the skilled craftwork created by the amazing refugee women we have got to know.
The community came together to donate a wealth of homemade snacks and cakes, and a special thanks goes to Smaira for her delicious date cupcakes.
We’d also like to thank Jane for coming along and demonstrating knitting patterns and techniques to our attendees.
The event was attended by student journalist Shorai Shoniwa-Forchin, who has kindly created a short video which will soon be available to watch on our website.
Thanks to all involved, we raised £465 overall (over the three events from March 4th-5th) in aid of our Sewing and Knitting club ‘KitKnit’, which will go directly back to the women whose products we displayed, and will also be used to help sustain this project so refugee women can continue to use knitting as a creative outlet and a means of economic empowerment leading to a sustainable living.
We had an enjoyable and successful day, and we will keep you up to date via social media and email about any events we plan to hold in future. You can sign up to our mailing list via our website if you haven’t already.
If you weren’t able to attend, remember that there are plenty more hand-knitted items for sale in our shop.
All the best,
